oh Jacob, y Formador tuyo, oh Israel:
No temas, porque yo te redimí;

Ahora estamos siendo forzados a frenar.

Is Anybody Out There? Social Distancing and the World's Great Loneliness

Six feet apart.
No groups of more than ten, for safety's sake.
Humankind retreats into the four corners they feel are more a house than a home.
We, the beings with souls, are doing everything we can to protect and heal our bodies.....but our hearts?
They're broke wide open, bleeding.
We'd like to think we're capable of carrying on in a context of isolation, that we are self-dependent, that the world can fall apart around us and we'll be okay.
But the lesson we'll be learning, the holy test we've just been handed has been taken from chapters we haven't bothered reading into as a society.
Connection, and the great void we call loneliness.
This isn't the first time human beings have known so great a separation.
Way back in the beginning, we are told in Genesis 3 of how the first human beings were escorted out of the Garden - ushered out of direct contact with the God they had walked with each day.
That's when they started to die, both body and soul.
For hundreds of years people made animal sacrifices - trying to buy back the relationship they lost when they chose self-dependency over a loving God who fully knows and sees us.  But their hearts weren't the only ones broken.  Their tears for the lost connection were shared by the One they longed for.
"But now, O Jacob, listen to the Lord who created you.
O Israel, the One who formed you says,
'Do not be afraid, for I have ransomed you.
I have called you by name; you are Mine.' "
(Isaiah 43:1)
Christ Himself came to be our ransom, to bridge the gap in the relationship between us and God. When He went to the cross, in that final hour the words sounded from His throat "EliEli, lema sabachthani?"
Simply put - "My God, why have You abandoned me?"
In order to buy back His Bride - the Son of God had to face the horror of separation from His Father.  But by His action, by His surrender - He proclaimed to the whole wide world what distance He would go in order to get the relationship back.
And yet we wander - as humanity, as the Church, as individuals.
Somehow we think if we stay busy enough, if we fill our lives with enough stuff, book our every day in half an hour increments that maybe the gnawing ache of running away from Love won't catch up with us.
Now we are being forced to slow.  Workplaces, schools and even churches are closing.  Perhaps the world has never felt so utterly alone, so uncertain of when "normality" shall dawn again.
Technology is often labeled as a great evil, especially among older generations of Christians - and even non-Christians.  Yet here we, millions of isolated human beings confined to our communities, yet with a world at our fingertips - thanks to the creative genius given by God to those who created the internet.
The LORD has given us the ability to reach across hundreds and thousands of miles to those we love and care about.  We may not be able to make the trip to stand face to face as we planned in hope so long ago...
But we can stand together from miles apart.  By phone, letter, Skype or messaging apps.  The world can be frightening enough when we have to face it alone.  So instead of cowering in a corner wondering how we shall get by, why don't we make full use of the time given to us?
In a time where the distractions of everyday life have been overturned, let us strive for connection with God and with each other.  The world is far too lonely when we all pretend we're better off on our own.

Yo soy Jehová vuestro Dios (ver Ex. 34:17).

THE SECOND COMMANDMENT

Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness
of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath,
or that is in the water under the earth:
Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for
I am the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the
fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of
    them that hate me;
And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep
my commandments (Ex. 20:4-6, cf. Deut. 5:8-10)

The first commandment prohibits idolatry in the broad sense. There can be none other god than the Lord. These other gods are man-made substitutes for the true God. As Ingram noted, "other gods about whom we must be concerned are, as they ever have been, to be found in the seats of temporal, or human, government." The Biblical definition of idolatry is obviously a broad one; thus, St. Paul declares that "no covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the Kingdom of Christ and of God" (Eph. 5:5). Again, in Colossians 3:5, reference is made to "covetousness, which is idolatry." Lenski noted, "A Catholic priest states that during his long years of service all kinds of sins and crimes were confessed to him in the confessional bur never the sin of covetousness."
Thus, in analyzing the second commandment, we must say, first, that the literal use of idols and images in worship is strictly forbidden. Leviticus 26:1,2 makes this very clear:

Ye shall make you no idols nor graven image, neither shall
ye set up any image of stone in your land, to bow down unto it: for
I am the LORD your God.
Ye shall keep my sabbaths, and reverence my santuary: I am the LORD.

Leviticus 19:4 also commands:

Turn ye not unto idols, nor make to yourselves molden gods: I am
the LORD your God (cf. Ex. 34:17).

Dios escogió a Israel y no Israel a Dios.

    por obra
en la tierra a la cual pasaís vosotros para tomarla;
    para que temas a Jehová

THE FIRST COMMANDMENT

The prologue to the Ten Commandments introduces not only the law as a whole but leads directly to the first commandment.

And God spoke all these words, saying,
I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land
of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.
Thou shalt have no other gods before me (Ex. 20:1-3).

In this declaration, God identifies Himself, first, as the LORD, the self-existent and absolute One. Second, He remains Israel that He is their Savior, and that their relationship to Him ("thy God") is therefore one of grace. God chose Israel, not Israel God. Third, the law is given to the people of grace. All men are already judged, fallen, and lost; all men are under the wrath of the law, a fact which the quaking mountain and the fact of death for unhallowed approach underscored (Ex. 19:16-25). The law is given to the people saved by grace as their way of grace, to set forth the privilege and blessing of the covenant. Fourth, it follows then that the first respond of grace, as well as the first principle of the law, is this, "Thou shalt have no other gods before me."
In analyzing this commandment, we must examine the implications of it cited by Moses:

Now these are the commandments, the statutes, and the judgments,
which the LORD your God commanded to teach you, that ye might
do them in the land whither ye go to possess it:
That thou mightest fear the LORD thy God, to keep all his
statutes and his commandments, which I command thee, thou, and
thy son, and thy son's son, all the days of thy life; and that thy
    days may be prolonged.
Here therefore, O Israel and observe to do it: that it may be well
with thee, and that ye may increase mightily, as the Lord God of thy
fathers hath promised thee, in the land that floweth with milk
    and honey (Deut. 6:1-3).

First, the reason for the giving of these commandments is to awaken the fear of God, and that fear may prompt obedience. Because God is God, the absolute lord and law-giver, fear of God is the essence of sanity and common sense. To depart from a fear of God is to lack any sense of reality. Second, "The maintenance of the fear of God would bring prosperity, and the increase of the nation promised to the fathers. . . . The increase of the nation had been promised to the patriarchs from the very first (Gen.xii.1;. . . cf. Lev. xxvi. 9)." It is therefore necessary to maintain this fear and obedience from generation to generation.

Perfumes (English)

Perfumes

...Many people struggle with this area of liberty because Scripture draws attention to the fact that harlots (Ezek. 23:40; Prov. 7:17) and the wicked woman Jezebel (2Kings 9:30) wore cosmetics and perfumes. But the fact that evil women used artificial beauty to ungodly ends does not discredit artificial beauty any more than Satan´s idolatrous use of natural beauty discredits natural beauty (Ezek. 28:17).

God Ordained Purposes

Before the Fall, God created Bdellium, an aromatic resin used in perfumes and cosmetics, and declared good (Gen. 2:12). God acknowledges the legitimacy of "the art of the perfumer" (Ex. 30:25,35) when He commands that the holy oil (Ex. 30:25) and the incense (Ex. 30:35) be made according to the recipes already in use by perfumers(Ex. 30:22-38). by this time there were a multitude of scents, ointments and beauty aids that the "apothecaries" had mastered and the only restriction that God made upon then was that these two recipes be kept exclusively for the priests (Ex. 30:32-33, 37-38).
The process of making perfume is mentioned by God before the time of Moses (Job 41:31), and was in use during the times of Moses (Ex. 30), Saul (1Sam. 8:13), Solomon (Prov. 27:9; Ecc.10:1; Song of Solomon), Asa (2 Chron. 16:14), Nehemiah (Neh. 3:8) and Christ (Mark 14:3; John 12:2). The romantic elements of perfumes and cosmetics are highlighted in a very positive way in Proverbs 27:9, Psalm 45 and in Song of Solomon, and the same attractive power of these elements is warned about when used by the seductress in Prov. 7:17, Isa. 57:9, Ezekiel 23:40 and 2Kings 9:30.
But the very fact that a warning needs to be given concerning their use just highlights the acknowledgment that cosmetics and perfume are desirable (not as some allege, a way of hiding natural beauty). Proverbs 27:9 says, "Ointment and perfume delight the heart." Song of Solomon 4:9-11 speaks of the power not only of natural beauty, but also artificial means of delighting the eyes and the nostrils: "You have ravished my heart, my sister, my spouse; you have ravished my heart with one look of your eyes, with one link of your necklace. How fair is your love, my sister, my spouse! How much better than wine is your love, and the scent of your perfumes than all spices!Your lips, o my spouse, drip as the honeycomb; honey and milk are under your tongue; and the fragrance of your garments is like the fragrance of Lebanon." Even breath freshener (they usually used cloves, cinnamon or some other spice for that purpose) are mentioned as something to appreciate (maybe especially!- Song 5:16; 7:9).
Some people have interpreted Esther 2:15 as meaning that Esther did not use make-up and only relied on her natural beauty. But the text suggests otherwise. It says, "She requested nothing other than what Hegai the King's eunuch advised." The implication is that he did advise her to wear some make-up and he was certainly sold on cosmetic skin care ("beauty preparations") in verse 9 and 12. The contrast between verses 13 and 15 is that the other women had their ideas of what looked good, and Esther trusted the chief eunuch's opinion.
...Likewise Psalm 45 likens the glories of Christ to the best of ornaments, perfumes and cosmetics (cf. vs. 7-14). Again unless Scripture valued these items, such an analogy would be useless. Song of Solomon glories not only in the natural beauty of God's creation, but also in the man-made aesthetic value of ornaments, clothing, perfumes, powders and cosmetics (read for example 1:3,10-14;3:6,11; 4:6,9-16;5:5; 7:1,5). Song of Solomon does not exhaust the names of all these items for it speaks of "all  the powders of the merchant" (3:6) yet does not give names for all of them.

... Por qué los Creyentes Pueden y Deben Dejar de Mentir
("Por lo tanto")
1.   Podemos dejar de mentir, porque:
      a. Tenemos un nuevo andar (Efesios 4:17)
      b. Tenemos una nueva mente (Efesios 4:17c-18)
2. Tenemos que dejar de mentir, porque:

(Efesios 4:25)

How to Put Away Lying

Out of the heart comes all our actions and a wicked heart produces wicked actions. Even after conversion old habits can remain and it takes time to change. How are we to deal with the simple and insidious vices such as non-truth telling that we and those around us display every day?

...Why Believers Can & Must stop Lying
("Therefore")
1.  We can stop lying because:
     a. We have a new walk (Eph. 4:17)
.    b. We have a new mind (Eph. 4:17c-18)
     c. We have a new sensitivity in conscience (Eph. 4:19a)
     d. We have a new will (Eph. 4:19b)
     e. Christ himself teaches us (Eph. 4:20-21)
     f. We can say "No!" to our old identity with Adam ("the old man") (Eph. 4:22)
     g. We no longer have to be controlled by our desires (Eph. 4:23)
     h. We can say "Yes" to our new identity in Christ ("the new man") (Eph. 4:24)
     i. God has commanded us to stop lying (Eph. 4:25)
2.  We must stop lying because:
     a. The Father has chosen us to holiness (Eph. 1)
     b. The Son has purchased us with His blood (Eph. 2)
     c. The Spirit who indwells us is grieved by lying (Eph. 3:14-4:16,30)
     d. We are part of Christ holy body (Eph. 4)
     e. God has commanded us to stop lying (Eph. 4:25)

It Will Take Resolve On Our Part ("putting away")
...We must consciously commit ourselves to stop our sin. We will set ourselves up for failure if we are half-hearted, or we give any excuses for the sin. Satan knows if you are just playing Soldiers and when you are determined to win the war.

"Therefore, putting away lying, 'Let each other of you speak truth with his neighbor,' for we are members of one another." (Ephesians 4:25)

La Obediencia a las Leyes de Dios (English)

"Personas piadosas llevan vidas piadosas.

Obedience to God's Laws

"Godly people lead godly lives. Through regeneration, people are enabled to know God and to obey Him. Indeed, this outward practice of obedience is evidence that an inward change has occurred. Men and women need to do what God says, and this is done only by obeying what He commands in His laws. These laws of God are found mainly in the Old Testament. Men must obey God on His terms; they are not free to pick and choose which of His commandments are to be obeyed, and which commandments are to be disregarded in the name of a misconstrued 'grace.' Jesus did not save His people from obedience to the Law; He saved them from the curse of the Law (God's wrath).

   Jesus said,

'You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it. You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets' (Matthew 22:37-40).

With this statement, the Lord was not setting aside the specific laws of God; He was merely summarizing them. It is sacrilegious for man to redefine holiness according to his own standards. Being a Christian means more than just 'being nice.' It means being obedient. Again God must be loved and obeyed on His terms, not ours. Man must love his neighbor on God's terms. These terms are clearly spelled out in the Ten Commandments as well as in God's specific Old Testament case laws, which are applications of those commandments. Jesus did not nullify God's laws, as is commonly taught in many churches today; He actually confirmed them. After all, He was the One who had revealed them to Moses:

Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill. For assuredly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled.
Whoever therefore breaks one of the least of these commandments, and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever does and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven (Matthew 5:17-19).

Does this mean that man must work for his salvation? Absolutely not! Salvation comes from God alone. He regenerates His people, He justifies His people, and He sanctifies His people. In justification, God declares His people righteous. This is what is known in theological terms as positional holiness. Through sanctification, God actually makes them righteous. This is practical holiness This process of sanctification is accomplished as God enables His people to obey His laws. God alone is the Sovereign King. His laws are to be obeyed by every human individual as well as by every human institution."

                                             Karma and the Sabbath

"The world of Karma is a world without God, and without rest. Hinduism has no Sabbath, and no naturalistic faith can have a true Sabbath. In a naturalistic world, man is caught in tension between two conflicting facts. First, if there is no God, everything depends upon man. If everything depends on man, then man must be at the command post of his life continuously, night and day, awake and asleep. The psychological implications of this are enormous: rest is precluded, and humanistic man is plagued with insomnia, an inability to rest while seeking it with intensity, and a nightmare-haunted life with things threatening to go out of control. Life is lonely at the top, especially if we live in a dead universe, and if we are all alone in our heart's concerns.
Second, if man is alone in a dead universe, a world without God, he faces the relentless and blind workings of that universe. Things happen because they must happen, without any source in mind, reason, or purpose. This means that man's purposes work against a world of total purposelessness. It means moreover that an unrelenting and blind causality works against him. Hinduism calls this Karma; others have varying names for it. The sum total of a blind world's forces and past work against us, and govern us. Heredity, the environment, our sins, the stars, our id, ego, superego, our primordial past, and much, much more controls us. Instead of being in control, we are controlled.
Thus, a naturalistic world-view or faith tells us to be the captains of our souls and fate, but also tells us that we are the creatures of nature, Karma, or what have you. The result is no rest.
The Sabbath can only flourish with a living faith. It means knowing that the government of all things is on the Lord's shoulders, not ours (Isa. 9:6-7). We can therefore rest in His government, providence, and care. We can also work in the magnificent assurance that our labor is not in vain or futile in the Lord (I Cor. 15:58; Rom. 8:28). If there is no God, there can be no rest. 'The wicked are like the troubled sea, when it cannot rest, whose waters cast up mire and dirt. There is no peace, saith my God, to the wicked' (Isa. 57:20-21).
If we have peace and rest, we communicate it. We are then at all times a Sabbath people. If we do not have rest, then we are a restless and a warring people. We are at war with God, with our neighbor, and with ourselves. We become a center of unrest, and we radiate disturbance. We then create conflicts and try to justify them in the name of our principles.
Men without a Sabbath rest as the principle of their lives are men without Christ, who is our true Sabbath (Heb. 4:9-16). We rest in Him who declares, 'Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid' (John 14:27).
The Sabbath is thus much more than a day. It is the Lord, a faith, and a faithfulness. It is resting in Him, and also living and working in Him.
Are you living under Karma, or in the terms of the Sabbath?"

Population Control

"And God blessed them; and God said to them, 'Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth...' (Genesis 1:28a). This command is one of the 'Creation Mandates' of Genesis 1,2. Today, the great debate about this passage is whether or not the earth has been 'filled.' That is, has the population of the earth reached the level at which its resources are inadequate to meet the needs of all people on earth?
The answer that gets the most attention today is that the earth's population has indeed reached or exceeded that level. Many Christians believe this answer. However, the overwhelming evidence is that the earth's resources and man's technology is quite capable of supporting many times the present six billion people on earth. Some of that evidence follows.
First, Colin Clark estimates that the world could sustain 35 billion people on the 'over-consumptive' American diet and 100 billion on an 'adequate' Japanese diet. Historically, famines have six causes: war, the prevention of cultivation, the willful destruction of crops, defective agriculture, government interference by regulation and taxation, and currency restrictions.
The continuing famine in Ethiopia is an example. For centuries, Ethiopian farmers had stored food after good harvests to provide for years of bad harvests. However, by government decree such storage was labeled 'hoarding' and disallowed. Families were relocated and commercial marketing of food was forbidden. And, many other governmental 'changes' disrupted a fairly efficient system of food production and supply that severely aggravated (if not caused) this continuing famine.
Second, productivity is not necessarily limited where people are closely populated. Taiwan, while two-thirds the size of Switzerland but with sixteen million people, has the second highest standard of living in Asia (behind Japan, another densely populated country).
Third, food production has increased more rapidly than the population on a world-wide basis. Even in the United States where large surpluses of food are produced almost every year, more could be produced were it not for government controls. But, politics is not the only problem. Worldwide, the average work day varies from 45 minutes to seven hours. Surely, there is a great deal more time for greater production!
Thus, in Creation God gave mankind abundant natural resources to provide for the needs of a planet 'filled' with people. In addition, He has given mankind an ingenious mind that is capable of utilizing those resources, provided man is willing and is free to pursue such development.
Why, then, is overpopulation rhetoric so appealing? The answer has to do with short-term vs. long-term costs, apparent consensus of expert judgment, population as a cause of pollution, judgments about people's rational use of resources, one-sided news media exposure, and hidden agendas that include increasing government control and an elite power structure.
Population statistics indicate that 2.2 children per married couple is necessary to maintain population at current levels. Thus, the logical conclusion is that couples who are able to have children should be 'fruitful' with 3 or more to continue to 'multiply' within God's Creation Mandate. This number should also be adequate statistically to fill the void of those who are physically unable to bear children.
These children will themselves become the resources to feed themselves and others. As long ago as the 18th century, Adam Smith recognized the surest sign of a healthy economic order was continuted population growth. As children 'multiply,' their needs of children (food, shelter, clothing) increase, and economic expansion occurs. (This reality is certainly a message to the United States in the 1990's with its abortion rate and stagnant economy.)
In addition, an expanding number of children are necessary to provide for the needs of their parents. In the United States, an inordinate burden is being placed upon productive workers because the abortion of one in three pregnancies for 18 years has greatly limited present and future workers.
Population growth creates new economic opportunities and markets. Such growth expands markets, making investments more attractive by reducing risks and increasing total demand for goods and services. Larger numbers of people lead to proportional economies that make large public investments such as highways, bridges, railroads, irrigation systems, and ports less expensive on a per-person basis.
Finally, we must believe God. Every mention of the bearing of children is described in positive terms (e.g., Psalms 127:3-5). This Biblical affirmation of children coupled with the Creation Mandate provides the authority to override any scientific objections to population control. And, God never limited or abrogated that affirmation or mandate. As pointed out, however, the greater scientific evidence points to more-than-sufficient resources to meet a growing population. And likely, God will either terminate history before actual overpopulation occurs, or He will continue to give man the ingenuity to stay ahead of population needs until His Second Advent."

Obedience and Health

"The law makes emphatically clear that, while death and illness are inescapable in this life, there is still a connection between obedience and health. Sickness and death are products of the Fall; they are not eliminated until after the second coming, when 'the last enemy,' death (I Cor. 15:26), shall be destroyed. Prior to that time, a large measure of health and longevity, as before the Flood, shall again prevail (Isa. 65:20)
To obey the law means 1) physical health, 2) material prosperity, 3) fertility, 4) victory over our enemies, and 5) the love and blessing of the Lord. This is clearly stated in Deuteronomy 7:12-16:

Wherefore it shall come to pass, if ye harken to these judgments, and keep, and do them, that the Lord thy God shall keep unto thee the covenant and the mercy which he sware unto thy fathers:
And he will love thee, and bless thee, and multiply thee: he will also bless the fruit of thy womb, and the fruit of thy land, thy corn, and thy wine, and thy oil, the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy sheep, in the land which he sware unto thy fathers to give thee.
Thou shall be blessed above all people: there shall not be male or female barren among you, or among your cattle.
And the Lord will take away from thee all sickness, and will put none of the evil diseases of Egypt, which thou knowest, upon thee; but will lay them upon all them that hate thee.
And thou shalt consume all the people which the Lord thy God shall deliver thee; thine eye shall have no pity upon them: neither shalt thou serve their gods; for that will be a snare unto thee.

Perfect obedience would lead to perfect health and to perfection in every area; while man is not to achieve this totality of obedience in this life, nonetheless a great measure of health and prosperity is clearly open to him on obedience.
The law, moreover, has its significance in more ways than one. Thus, while circumcision, as a covenant rite, has been replaced by baptism, circumcision was given with both spiritual and material consequences involved, in that God's law is to a unified being and has consequences for all his being. Circumcision, thus, while no longer having a significance as a mark of the covenant, is still important as a God-given means of attaining the life of health God sets forth for His people. Several doctors have commented on various implications of circumcision for health. We will cite only Dr. Henschen, because, without being a Christian, he recognizes to a degree the religious nature of health in this area:
There are examples, too, of religious precepts and simply hygienic precautions giving protection against cancer, however incredible that may sound. It has been established for quite a long time that Jewesses who marry circumcised men, Jews and non-Jews, very seldom have cancer of the neck of the womb, cervis uteria, an otherwise very common form of cancer which in Sweden also is showing signs of increasing. This is associated with the Jewish law and custom of forbidding intercourse during menstruation and with circumcision, after which the fatty substance which is excreted in the foreskin, smegma, cannot collect and decompose in the absence of personal hygiene. This freedom from cervix cancer is also found in women who have become nuns in youth. Experience shows that decomposed smegna can lead to cancer of the penis, especially in China according to some reports.
The various dietary laws, laws of separation, and other laws no longer mandatory as covenant signs, are still valid and mandatory as a health requirements in terms of Deuteronomy 7:12-16."
