La Obediencia y La Salud (English)

   "La ley explica enfáticamente con claridad que, mientras la muerte y la enfermedad son ineludibles en esta vida, hay todavía una conexión entre la obediencia y la salud. La enfermedad y la muerte son productos de la Caída; ellos no son eliminados hasta después del segundo advenimiento, cuando 'el último enemigo,' la muerte (I Cor. 15:26), será destruida. Antes de ese tiempo, una medida grande de salud y longevidad, como antes del Diluvio, otra vez prevalecerá (Isa. 65:20).
   Obedecer la ley significa 1) la salud física, 2) la prosperidad material, 3) la fecundidad, 4) la victoria sobre nuestros enemigos, y 5) el amor y la bendición del Señor. Esto es indicado claramente en Deuteronomio 7:12-16:

Y por haber oído estos decretos y haberlos guardado y puesto por obra, Jehová tu Dios guardará contigo el pacto y la misericordia que juró a tus padres.
Y te amará, te bendecirá y te multiplicará, y bendecirá el fruto de tu vientre y el fruto de tu tierra, tu grano, tu mosto, tu aceite, la cría de tus vacas, y los rebaños de tus ovejas, en la tierra que juró a tus padres que te daría.
Bendito serás más que todos los pueblos; no habrá en ti varón ni hembra estéril, ni en tus ganados.
Y quitará Jehová de ti toda enfermedad; y todas las malas plagas de Egipto, que tú conoces, no las pondrá sobre ti, antes las pondrá sobre todos los que te aborrecieren.
Y consumirás a todos los pueblos que te da Jehová tu Dios; no los perdonará tu ojo, ni servirás a sus dioses, porque te será tropiezo.

La obediencia perfecta llevaría a la salud perfecta y a la perfección en cada área; mientras que el hombre no es de lograr esta totalidad de obediencia, en esta vida, sin embargo una gran medida de la salud y la prosperidad está claramente accesible a él en obediencia.
   La ley, además, tiene su significado en muchos sentidos. Así, mientras que la circuncisión, como un rito de convenio, ha sido reemplazado por el bautismo, la circuncisión fue dada con ambas consecuencias espirituales y materiales implicadas, en que la ley de Dios es para un ser unificado y tiene consecuencias para todo su ser. La circuncisión, así, al ya no tener un significado como una marca del convenio, es todavía importante como un medio dado por Dios para alcanzar la vida de salud que Dios manifiesta para Su pueblo. Varios médicos han hecho comentarios acerca de varias implicaciones de la circuncisión para la salud. Citaremos sólo al Dr. Henschen, porque, sin ser un cristiano, él reconoce a un grado, la naturaleza religiosa de la salud en esta área:
Hay ejemplos, también, de preceptos religiosos y precauciones simplemente higiénicas que dan la protección contra el cáncer, por increíble que eso pueda sonar. Ha sido establecido por mucho tiempo que judías que se casan con hombres circuncidados, judíos y no-judíos, muy rara vez tienen cáncer del cuello del útero, uteria de cervis, de otro modo, una forma muy común de cáncer que en Suecia también muestra signos de aumento. Esto es asociado con la ley y la costumbre judías de prohibir relaciones sexuales durante la menstruación y con la circunsición, después de que que la sustancia grasosa que es excretada en el prepucio, esmegma, no puede reunirse y descomponerse en la ausencia de la higiene personal. Esta libertad del cáncer del cuello uterino, también se encuentra en mujeres que han llegado a ser monjas en la juventud. La experiencia que la esmegna descompuesta puede llevar al cáncer del pene, especialmente en China según algunos informes.
   Las varias leyes dietéticas, las leyes de la separación, y de otras leyes ya no obligatorias como signos de convenio, son todavía válidas y obligatorias como requisitos de la salud en términos de Deuteronomio 7:12-16."

Obedience and Health

   "The law makes emphatically clear that, while death and illness are inescapable in this life, there is still a connection between obedience and health. Sickness and death are products of the Fall; they are not eliminated until after the second coming, when 'the last enemy,' death (I Cor. 15:26), shall be destroyed. Prior to that time, a large measure of health and longevity, as before the Flood, shall again prevail (Isa. 65:20)
   To obey the law means 1) physical health, 2) material prosperity, 3) fertility, 4) victory over our enemies, and 5) the love and blessing of the Lord. This is clearly stated in Deuteronomy 7:12-16:

    Wherefore it shall come to pass, if ye harken to these judgments, and keep, and do them, that the Lord thy God shall keep unto thee the covenant and the mercy which he sware unto thy fathers:
And he will love thee, and bless thee, and multiply thee: he will also bless the fruit of thy womb, and the fruit of thy land, thy corn, and thy wine, and thy oil, the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy sheep, in the land which he sware unto thy fathers to give thee.
Thou shall be blessed above all people: there shall not be male or female barren among you, or among your cattle.
And the Lord will take away from thee all sickness, and will put none of the evil diseases of Egypt, which thou knowest, upon thee; but will lay them upon all them that hate thee.
And thou shalt consume all the people which the Lord thy God shall deliver thee; thine eye shall have no pity upon them: neither shalt thou serve their gods; for that will be a snare unto thee.

Perfect obedience would lead to perfect health and to perfection in every area; while man is not to achieve this totality of obedience in this life, nonetheless a great measure of health and prosperity is clearly open to him on obedience.
   The law, moreover, has its significance in more ways than one. Thus, while circumcision, as a covenant rite, has been replaced by baptism, circumcision was given with both spiritual and material consequences involved, in that God's law is to a unified being and has consequences for all his being. Circumcision, thus, while no longer having a significance as a mark of the covenant, is still important as a God-given means of attaining the life of health God sets forth for His people. Several doctors have commented on various implications of circumcision for health. We will cite only Dr. Henschen, because, without being a Christian, he recognizes to a degree the religious nature of health in this area:
     There are examples, too, of religious precepts and simply hygienic precautions giving protection against cancer, however incredible that may sound. It has been established for quite a long time that Jewesses who marry circumcised men, Jews and non-Jews, very seldom have cancer of the neck of the womb, cervis uteria, an otherwise very common form of cancer which in Sweden also is showing signs of increasing. This is associated with the Jewish law and custom of forbidding intercourse during menstruation and with circumcision, after which the fatty substance which is excreted in the foreskin, smegma, cannot collect and decompose in the absence of personal hygiene. This freedom from cervix cancer is also found in women who have become nuns in youth. Experience shows that decomposed smegna can lead to cancer of the penis, especially in China according to some reports.
   The various dietary laws, laws of separation, and other laws no longer mandatory as covenant signs, are still valid and mandatory as a health requirements in terms of Deuteronomy 7:12-16."
