El marido de la mujer virtuosa tomaba parte en el gobierno local. Sabemos eso porque los magistrados locales se sentaban a las puertas de la ciudad para las reuniones oficiales. El había surgido a un lugar de prominencia política y religiosa como un anciano en la ciudad, PORQUE ÉL TENÍA UNA ESPOSA TAN EXCELENTE. Ella fielmente lo había ayudado a ascender para ser uno de los hombres influyentes de la ciudad. "Ella avanza la estimación y el respeto en el que su marido es tenido." - Keil, p. 336. Como Proverbios 12:4 dice: La mujer virtuosa es la corona de su marido; Mas la mala, como carcoma en sus huesos.
Por sus consejos sabios, y la gestión prudente de los asuntos, parece que él tiene una compañera discreta en su seno, por la conversación con quien él se mejora. Por su alegre semblante y agradable (disposición), parece que él tiene una esposa agradable en el hogar, porque muchos que no tienen, tienen sus temperamentos amargados curiosamente por ello. Más aún, por su parecer limpio y ordenado en su vestimenta, todo en él digno y guapo, mas no llamativo, uno puede saber que tiene una buena esposa en casa, que se encarga de su ropa. - Matthew Henry, p. 802.
N. (31:24) HACE TELAS, Y VENDE, Y DA CINTAS AL MERCADER.
Ella tenía varios negocios pequeños al lado para el beneficio de su casa. ¿Cuándo debería una esposa y madre participar en los negocios en casa? "La clave para determinar si un trabajo es adecuado o no reside únicamente en que si el trabajo ayuda o perjudica a su familia." - Jay Adams, p. 82 Uno de estos negocios fue la producción de un ligero blusón-vestido, un vestido de verano, usado en el cuerpo desnudo, es decir, la ropa interior (?).
O. (31:25) FUERZA Y HONOR SON SU VESTIDURA; Y SE RÍE DE LO POR VENIR
Ella se viste interiormente con fuerza, y su semblante es de paz y dignidad. Ella se conduce en público, delante de sus hijos y ante su marido, con humildad y dignidad. Ella mira a Dios para potenciar su debilidad con toda Su gracia suficiente para ser capaz de enfrentar y crecer de todos los cambios y las crisis de la vida, que destrozan tan fácilmente y arruinan a las personas y las familias construidas sobre cimientos de arena y no en Jesucristo. Su ropa es la fuerza espiritual, la verdadera dignidad, la confianza en el Señor, la justicia de la vida, y la sabiduría del pensamiento, con la que ella mira confiadamente hacia el futuro, y así armada en contra de toda tristeza y problema.
Ella tiene el consuelo y la satisfacción de su virtud en su propia mente._ Ella disfruta de una firmeza y constancia de mente, tiene el espíritu para soportar bajo las muchas cruces y las decepciones que incluso el sabio y virtuoso debe esperar encontrar en este mundo; y esta es su ropa, para la defensa, así como la decencia. - Matthew Henry, p. 804.
Ella sonríe al futuro. Ella tiene una orientación de victoria hacia el futuro, llena de confianza segura de que el futuro le pertenece a ella, porque ella pertenece a Cristo, llena de fe en que Dios será fiel a Su Palabra y que la providencia de Dios hará que todas las cosas trabajen juntas para el bien de ella y el bien de su familia, mientras que ellos aman a Dios y lo sirvan, Romanos 8:28.
Una puede criticar a esta mujer virtuosa por los estándares feministas modernos todo lo que quiera, pero no se puede argumentar de otro modo _ ¡esta mujer es una mujer feliz y satisfecha! Este hecho resuena en cada verso en su descripción.
Ella es una mujer en todo el sentido de esa gran palabra. Cada don que ha recibido de Dios ha sido desarrollado y está siendo utilizado. Su personalidad no está aplastada. Ella no es arrastrada por el pelo por su marido. La imagen bíblica es la de una mujer liberada sometiéndose gozosamente al liderazgo de su marido y viviendo con alegría para él. Ella está profundamente involucrada en el proyecto apasionante de descubrir todo lo que Dios quiso que sea para una mujer cuando Él la hizo para ser la ayuda de su marido. Ella es su ayudante, no sólo en el trabajo físico ... sino también para pensar a través de los problemas y tomar decisiones. - Jay Adams, p. 82.

THE CHARACTER OF THE VIRTUOUS WOMAN - Part V
M. (Prov. 31:23) HER HUSBAND IS KNOWN IN THE GATES, WHEN HE SITS AMONG THE ELDERS OF THE LAND
The husband of the virtuous woman was involved in local government. We know that because the local magistrates would sit at the gates of the city for official meetings. He had arisen to a place of political and religious prominence as an elder in the city, BECAUSE HE HAD SUCH AN EXCELLENT WIFE. She had faithfully help him rise to be one of the influential men in the city. "She advances the estimation and the respect in which her husband is held."- Keil, p. 336. As Proverbs 12:4 says: An excellent wife is the crown of her husband, but she who shames him is as rottenness is his bones.
By his wise counsels, and prudent management of affairs, it appears that he has a discreet companion in his bosom, by conversation with whom he improves himself. By his cheerful countenance and pleasant (disposition) it appears that he has an agreeable wife at home; for many that have not have their tempers strangely soured by it. Nay, by his appearing clean and neat in his dress, everything about him decent and handsome, yet not gaudy, one may know he has a good wife at home, that takes care of his clothes.- Matthew Henry, p. 802.
N. (31:24) SHE MAKES LINEN GARMENTS AND SELLS THEM, AND SUPPLIES BELTS TO THE TRADESMEN
She had several small businesses on the side for the benefit of her home. When should a wife and mother become involved in home businesses? "The key to whether a job is fitting or not lies solely in whether the job helps or hinders her family."- Jay Adams, p. 82 One of these businesses was the production of a light smock-frock, a summer dress, worn on the bare body, i.e., lingerie (?).
O. (31:25) STRENGTH AND DIGNITY ARE HER CLOTHING, AND SHE SMILES AT THE FUTURE
She is clothed inwardly with strength, and her countenance is one of peace and dignity. She carries herself in public, before her children and before her husband, with humility and dignity. She looks to God to empower her weakness with His all-sufficient grace to be able to cope with and grow from all the changes and crises of life, which so easily shatter and ruin people and families built on foundations of sand and not on Jesus Christ. Her clothing is spiritual strength, true dignity, trust in the Lord, righteousness of life, and wisdom of thought, with which she looks confidently into the future, and is thus armed against all sorrow and trouble.
She has the comfort and satisfaction of her virtue in her own mind._ She enjoys a firmness and constancy of mind, has spirit to bear up under the many crosses and disappointments which even the wise and virtuous must expect to meet with in this world; and this is her clothing, for defense as well as decency.- Matthew Henry, p. 804.
She smiles at the future. She has a victory-orientation toward the future, full of confident assurance that the future belongs to her, because she belongs to Christ, full of faith that God will be faithful to His Word and that the providence of God will cause all things to work together for her good and the good of her family as they love God and serve Him, Romans 8:28.
One can criticize this virtuous woman by modern feminist standards all she wants, but it cannot be argued otherwise_ this woman is a happy and fulfilled woman! This fact rings our in every verse in her description.
She is a woman in every sense of that great word. Every gift that she has received from God has been developed and is being used. Her personality is not squashed. She is not dragged around by the hair by her husband. The Biblical picture is that of a liberated woman submitting joyfully to the headship of her husband and living cheerfully for him. She is deeply involved in the exciting project of discovering all that God meant for a woman to be when He made her to be her husband's helper. She is his helper not just in physical work...but also in thinking through problems, and making decisions.- Jay Adams, p. 82.
