EL DESEO DE MUERTE DEL HOMBRE MODERNO (English)

    "En nuestro desayuno del personal recientemente, John Saunders comentó acerca del hecho de que el hombre humanista moderno tiene un deseo de muerte y es suicida. Por lo tanto, los humanistas están destruyéndose a ellos mismos. Otto Scott agregó que en el proceso, ellos están entregando el mundo a la Unión Soviética, y nosotros a la esclavitud.
    Proverbios 8:36 declara, 'Mas el que peca contra mí, defrauda su alma; Todos los que me aborrecen aman la muerte.' Para entender nuestros tiempos, debemos entender la importancia de este versículo. La vida aparte del Señor es suicida, es un rechazo de las condiciones de vida. Puesto que todas las cosas fueron hechas por El, y sin El nada de lo que ha sido hecho, fue hecho. (Juan 1:3), todas las condiciones de vida son creadas por Dios. La ley de Dios es una condición de vida.
     Es inútil buscar soluciones que descuidan este hecho. Un pueblo suicida votará por la muerte, no por soluciones que conducen a la vida. Esto no quiere decir que el voto no es muy importante, sino significa que el meollo de la cuestión es que las personas que votan, actúan y viven suicidamente, tienen un problema religioso muy grave. 'El que me halle, hallará la vida' (Prov. 8:35).
    Tenemos hoy un problema internacional de drogas, tenemos el aborto, la homosexualidad, el alcoholismo, un índice alto de suicidios, y más. Tenemos un índice de natalidad declinante, una evidencia de una pérdida de fe en un buen futuro, y tenemos una generación sin expectativas. Tenemos el ocultismo, el satanismo, y formas destructivas de música.
    Con todas estas cosas, esperar que la esperanza en otra cosa, que un retorno a una fidelidad radical a Dios es ilusoria. No sólo de pan vivirá el hombre, sino de toda palabra que sale de la boca de Dios (Mateo 4:4). Los redimidos en Cristo escucharán y le obedecerán. (Diciembre, 1986)"

THE DEATH WISH OF MODERN MAN

   "At our staff breakfast recently, John Saunders commented on the fact that modern humanistic man has a death wish and is suicidal. The humanists are thus destroying themselves. Otto Scott added that in the process they are surrendering the world to the Soviet Union, and us to slavery.
   Proverbs 8:36 declares, ´But he that sinneth against me wrongeth his own soul: all they that hate me love death.´ To understand our times, we must understand the importance of this verse. Life apart from the Lord is suicidal, it is a rejection of the conditions of life. Since all things were made by Him, and without Him was not anything made that was made (John 1:3), all conditions of life are God-created. God´s law is a condition of life.
    It is useless to look to solutions which neglect this fact. A suicidal people will vote for death, not for solutions which lead to life. This does not mean that voting is not very important, but it does mean that the heart of the matter is that people who vote, act, and live suicidally have a very serious religious problem. ´Whoso findeth me findeth life' (Prov. 8:35).
   We have today an international drug problem; we have abortion, homosexuality, alcoholism, a high suicide rate, and more. We have a declining birth rate, an evidence of a loss of faith in a good future, and we have a zero-expectations generation. We have occultism, Satanism, and destructive forms of music.
   With all these things, to expect hope in anything else than a return to a radical faithfulness to God is illusory. Man cannot live by bread alone, only by the every word that proceeds from the mouth of God (Matt. 4:4). The redeemed in Christ will hear and obey Him. (December, 1986)"
