El Arrepentimiento

"Examíname, oh Dios, y conoce mi corazón ... Y ve si hay en mí camino de perversidad, y guíame en el camino eterno." (Salmo 139:23-24) "Si confesamos nuestros pecados, él es fiel y justo para perdonar nuestros pecados y limpiarnos de toda maldad." (1 Juan 1:9). "Pero si andamos en luz, como él está en luz, tenemos comunión unos con otros, y la sangre de Jesucristo su Hijo nos limpia de todo pecado" (1 Juan 1:7)

Después de haberte abierto en una entrega, pide al Espíritu Santo de Dios que examine tu corazón y te muestre cualquier cosa que necesita ser cambiada. Como Él te convence de pecado, no racionalices. No importa lo trivial que pueda parecerte, inmediatamente confiésalo, recibe la purificación de la sangre de Cristo y determina hacer cualquier confesión o restitución que sea necesaria a otros. La siguiente oración podría ayudarte a empezar:

    Padre Celestial, te pido perdón por todas las maneras que te he ofendido, a sabiendas o no. He pecado en pensamiento, motivo, palabra y obra. He pecado en lo que he hecho y en lo que he dejado de hacer. Vengo ante Ti para pedirte que me des un corazón arrepentido. Tú sabes mis secretos más íntimos. Abro mi corazón a Ti y te pido que lo examines, y me muestres todo lo que Tú quieres que yo confiese hoy ... [Espera en el Señor haga su examinación. Luego confiésalos como son revelados. Si nada de inmediato viene a la mente, comienza a orar qué partes de los siguientes son relevantes:]

    ... Pido perdón por los pecados contra la pureza: mirada lasciva, fantasías sexuales y especialmente __________. Me aparto de todas aquellas actividades y vuelvo a Ti. Me arrepiento profundamente de haber ______________.

    Me arrepiento de todo comportamiento compulsivo: abuso de la bebida, las drogas, el juego, el exceso de preocupación por el sexo, la comida y especialmente ____________. Gracias, Padre, por liberarme.

    Me arrepiento de no cuidar de mi salud física y emocional; por falta de equilibrio en la alimentación, el descanso y el ejercicio. Me comprometo a cuidar de mí mismo hoy día.

    Me arrepiento de las veces que he hecho daño a otras personas. Te pido que me perdones por mi falta de afirmación de otros, desairar a la gente, frialdad, falta de amor y comportamiento desconsiderado. Me arrepiento de haber mentido al exagerar la verdad, defraudar o engañar deliberadamente. Me arrepiento de haber robado. Me arrepiento de la envidia, el odio, el resentimiento, los celos, la amargura, la frialdad hacia los demás, y especialmente por _____________.

Traigo ante Ti las cosas que he estado más avergonzado y he encubierto durante tanto tiempo. Yo ya no quiero ocultarlos de Ti o de mí mismo.

    Acepto Tu perdón, liberación y sanación, creyendo que Tú eres "fiel y justo para perdonar nuestros pecados y limpiarnos de toda maldad" (1 Juan 1:9). En el nombre de Jesús te lo pido, Amén.

Repentance

"Search me, O God, and know my heart... And see if there is any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting." (Psalm 139:23-24) "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." (1 John 1:9) "But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin." (1 John 1:7)

Having open yourself in surrender, ask God's Holy Spirit to search your heart and to show you of anything that needs to be changed. As He convicts you of sin, do not rationalize. No matter how trivial it may appear to you, immediately confess it, receive the cleansing of Christ's blood and determine to make any confessions or restitution to others that are needed. The following prayer could get you started:

                                 Sample Prayer of Repentance

   Heavenly Father, I ask Your forgiveness for all the ways I have offended You, knowingly or unknowingly. I have sinned in thought, motive, word and deed. I have sinned in what I have done and in what I have failed to do. I come before You to ask You to give me a repentant heart. You know my inmost secrets. I open my heart to You and ask that You would search it, and show me all that You want me to confess today...[wait for the Lord to do His searching. Then confess them as they are revealed. If nothing immediately comes to mind, begin praying what parts of the following are relevant:]

   ... I ask forgiveness for sins against purity:roving eyes, sexual fantasies and especially __________ . I turn away from all those activities and turn to You. I deeply repent of having ______________ .

   I repent of any compulsive behavior: over drinking, drugs, gambling, over-preoccupation with sex, food and especially ____________. Thank you, Father, for setting me free.

   I repent of not taking care of my physical and emotional health; for lack of balance in nutrition, rest and exercise. I make a commitment to care of myself today.

   I repent of times that I have hurt other people. I ask You to forgive me for my lack of affirming of others, brushing people off, coldness, unloving and inconsiderate behavior. I repent of having lied by stretching the truth, defrauding or deliberately deceiving. I repent of stealing. I repent of envy, hatred, resentment, jealousy, bitterness, coldness toward others, and especially for _____________.

I bring before You the things that I have been most ashamed of and have covered up for so long. I no longer want to hide them from You or from myself.

   I accept Your forgiveness, liberation and healing, believing that You are "faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9). In Jesus' name I ask this, Amen.
