El Aumento de Su Gobierno y la Paz

  

Una de las profecías más importantes con referencia al nacimiento de nuestro Señor está en Isaías 9:6-7. Cristo, ocho siglos antes de su venida, es aclamado como el "Admirable, Consejero, Dios Fuerte, Padre Eterno, Príncipe de Paz", y se declara "el principado sobre su hombro." Esta es la primera gran declaración respecto a Cristo y todo el gobierno: el gobierno definitivo y absoluto de todas las cosas pertenecerán a Cristo. La segunda gran declaración es que "[l]o dilatado de su imperio y la paz no tendrán límite." Cristo, al venir a un mundo pecador y rebelde para establecer su dominio como Señor y Salvador, aumentará su poder, el gobierno y la paz en frente de toda la enemistad y la guerra.

   A continuación, se nos dice exactamente cómo se hará esto: Él "disponiéndolo y confirmándolo en juicio y en justicia desde ahora y para siempre", o como la versión de La Biblia de las Américas lo traduce: "[P]ara afianzarlo y sostenerlo con el derecho y la justicia desde entonces y para siempre."

   Cristo vino al mundo como el gran profeta, sacerdote y rey​​. Como profeta, Él habla en nombre de Dios; como sacerdote, Él es el salvador del hombre e intercesor ante el Padre; como rey, Él gobierna sobre el mundo.

   El mundo está en rebelión contra ese gobierno. De estos rebeldes y revolucionarios, escuchamos hablar mucho acerca de la "paz", y una gran cantidad de hostilidad hacia el gobierno. Pero Isaías ató a los dos juntos: "Lo dilatado de su imperio y la paz no tendrán límite." La verdadera paz, en otras palabras, es un producto del verdadero gobierno. Cuando hay verdadera ley y orden, entonces también hay verdadera paz. Abolir la ley y el orden, es abolir la paz y crear una situación de guerra revolucionaria y la anarquía. Al abandonar a Cristo como Salvador y Rey, al abandonar su gobierno y la paz, estamos entrando en un mundo de guerra perpetua. Estamos participando en la "guerra perpetua para la paz perpetua" porque estamos buscándola sin Cristo. El viejo himno lo dice mejor:

    ¡Alegría al mundo!
    El Señor ha venido
   Que la tierra reciba a su Rey.

   Pero la invitación de la canción es entonces personal: "Que cada corazón le prepare un lugar." Todos anhelamos por la ley divina y el orden, por su gobierno y la paz. Debe empezar en primer lugar en nuestros corazones. La mayoría de la gente está esperando que sus maridos, esposas, hijos, vecinos, para que todo el resto del mundo sea cristiano, para que puedan disfrutar del lujo y la paz de un mundo piadoso sin ningún tipo de conversión personal, pero no hay paz, dice la Escritura, para los impíos. Pero todo hombre puede conocer la paz de Su gobierno aquí y ahora, y frente a todos los problemas, si sus corazones le preparan un lugar.

The Increase of His Government and Peace

   One of the most important prophecies concerning the birth of our Lord is in Isaiah 9:6-7. Christ, eight centuries before His coming, is hailed as the "Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, the everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace," and it is declared that "the government shall be upon his shoulder." This is the first great declaration concerning Christ and all government: the ultimate and absolute government of all things shall belong to Christ. The second great declaration is that "[o]f the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end." Christ, coming into a sinful and rebellious world to establish His dominion as Lord and Savior, will in the face of all enmity and warfare increase His power, government, and peace.
   Next, we are told exactly how this shall be done: He shall "establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever," or, as the Berkeley Version translates it, "[I]t is firmly established and supported in justice and righteousness from now on and forever."
   Christ came into the world as the great prophet, priest, and king. As prophet, He speaks for God; as priest, He is man´s savior and advocate with the Father; as king, He rules over the world.
   The world is in rebellion against that government. From these rebels and revolutionists, we hear much talk about "peace," and a great deal of hostility to government. But Isaiah tied the two together: "Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end." True peace, in other words, is a product of true government. When there is true law and order, then there is also true peace. Abolish law and order, and you abolish peace and create a situation of revolutionary warfare and anarchy. By abandoning Christ as Savior and King, by abandoning His government and peace, we are moving into a world of perpetual warfare. We are engaged in "perpetual warfare for perpetual peace" because we are seeking it without Christ. The old hymn states it best:

   Joy to the world!
   The Lord is come:
   Let earth receive her King.

   But the invitation of the song is then personal: "Let every heart prepare Him room." We all long for godly law and order, for His government and peace. -it must begin first of all in our own hearts. Most people are waiting for their husbands, wives, children, neighbors, for all the rest of the world to be Christian, so they can enjoy the luxury and peace of a godly world without any personal conversion, but there is no peace, says Scripture, to the wicked. But every man can know the peace of His government here and now, and in the face of all problems, if their hearts prepare Him room.
