Instruye al Niño

  

Cuando Ben-adad, rey de Siria, invadió Israel con un gran ejército, rodeó y sitió la capital, Samaria. El rey Acab estaba encerrado dentro de las murallas, con sólo 7,000 hombres de guerra.
   Ben-adad entonces estableció las condiciones de rendición: el oro, la plata, las esposas y los hijos de Acab tenían que ser entregados a él. El propósito de esta demanda era la siguiente: la entrega de la riqueza dejaría indefensa a Israel en términos de la resistencia futura. La entrega de las esposas humillaría a Acab delante de su pueblo y rompería su poder. Pero la demanda final y más grande fue para la entrega de sus hijos. Esto era común en la antigüedad y en los tiempos modernos. Los niños se adoptarían para la re-educación en términos de una fe y moralidad ajena. Cuando ellos volvieron a heredar el trono o la autoridad, a menudo sirvían a un poder extranjero.
   Cuando Prusia estableció la educación controlada por el Estado, su propósito era similar. El ambiente moderno estaba llevando al hombre común a cuestionar a los poderes existentes, y el hombre se estaba convirtiendo en un problema para el Estado. ¿Cómo controlar al pueblo? era la pregunta más grande. Una solución era construir calles rectas sobre las que la caballería fácilmente podría atacar, y cuyos cañones podían barrer, con el fin de prevenir la resistencia popular. Otra solución fue tomar el control de las escuelas de las iglesias y utilizarlas para lavar el cerebro de las generaciones futuras. James G. Carter, socio de Horace Mann, declaró abiertamente que el objetivo del control estatal de la educación es el control del pueblo.
   Así, los niños se vuelven alejados de sus familias y la fe. El conflicto entre los adolescentes y los padres es un fenómeno muy moderno, desconocido anteriormente, excepto en casos excepcionales. Es un producto de la educación contra la familia.
   Una de las reacciones a esto ha sido el rápido crecimiento de las escuelas cristianas. Proverbios 22:6 declara: "Instruye al niño en su camino, Y aun cuando fuere viejo no se apartará de él." Esta es una responsabilidad ordenada por Dios. Nuestros hijos pertenecen al Señor, y deben ser criados y educados en la disciplina y amonestación del Señor.

Train Up a Child

   When Ben-hadad, King of Syria, invaded Israel with a great army, he surrounded and besieged the capital, Samaria. King Ahab was cooped up within the walls with only 7,000 fighting men.
   Ben-hadad then laid down the terms of surrender: the gold, silver, wives, and children of Ahab had to be delivered to him. The purpose of this demand was this: the surrender of wealth would leave Israel helpless in terms of future resistance. The surrender of the wives would humiliate Ahab before his people and break his power. But the final and greatest demand was for the surrender of his children. This was common in antiquity and into modern times. The children would be taken for re-education in terms of an alien faith and morality. When they were returned to succeed to the throne or authority, they often served an alien power.
   When Prussia established state-controlled education, its purpose was similar. The modern mood was leading the common man to question the powers that be, and man was becoming a problem to the state. How to control the people was thus the greatest question. One solution was to build straight streets over which cavalry could readily charge, and which cannons could sweep, in order to prevent popular resistance. Another solution was to take over schools from the churches and use them to brainwash future generations. James G. Carter, Horace Mann's associate, openly stated that the goal of state control of education is people-control.
   Children thus become alienated from their families and the faith. Conflict between teenagers and parents is a very modern phenomena, unknown previously except in rare cases. It is a product of anti-family education.
   One of the reactions to this has been the rapid growth of Christian schools. Proverbs 22:6 declares, "Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it." This is a God ordained responsibility. Our children belong to the Lord, and they must be reared and educated in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.
