Mateo 6:21 declara, "Porque donde esté vuestro tesoro, allí estará también vuestro corazón." Esto invierte nuestra expectativa natural: de hecho, muchas personas erróneamente citan este versículo como, donde está tu corazón, allí estará tu tesoro también. Esto hace, si es cierto, imposible saber lo que un hombre atesora, mientras que nuestro Señor aclara que conocemos el corazón de un hombre por sus obras: "por sus frutos los conoceréis" (Mateo 7:20).
En cuanto a esto sabemos cómo son los hombres, quienes, menospreciando la centralidad de la familia en la Escritura, y valorando el dinero extra, o las ventajas materiales, insisten en que sus esposas trabajen en lugar de continuar con su deber como madre y ama de casa. En demasiados casos, donde no hay necesidad urgente, los hombres insisten en que sus esposas den prioridad a trabajar por el dinero a trabajar por la familia como la madre y esposa. Esta perspectiva significa colocar las ventajas presentes por encima del bienestar perdurable de la familia. Esto significa que el tesoro de un hombre está en las cosas materiales, no en su familia en Cristo.

THE FAMILY AS TREASURE
Matthew 6:21 declares, "For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also." This reverses our natural expectation: in fact, many people wrongly quote this verse as, where your is, there will be your treasure also. This renders it, it true, impossible to know what a man treasures, whereas our Lord makes clear that we know man's heart by his works: "by their fruits ye shall know them" (Matt. 7:20).
In terms of this we know what men are, who, despising the centrality of the family in Scripture, and prizing extra money, or material advantages, insist that their wives work rather than continuing their proper duty as mother and housewife. In all too many cases, where their is no urgent need, men insist that their wives give priority to working for money to working for the family as the mother and wife. Such a perspective means placing present advantages above the enduring welfare of the family. It means that a man's treasure is in material things, not his family in Christ.
