 Recientemente, un hombre muy bueno, que debería saber mejor, me envió una declaración conteniendo su respuesta a la creciente ola del mal: "Oremos al respecto". Creo que esas declaraciones son blasfemas. Se nos manda en la Escritura a orar, pero la oración no puede ser nunca un sustituto por la responsabilidad. Si, por ejemplo, nos negamos a trabajar, y luego oramos a Dios por la comida para nuestra familia, somos doblemente culpables ante Dios, culpables de imprevisión y de blasfemia.
    Entonces, ¿cómo vamos a lidiar con el problema del mal? Sólo Dios puede cambiar el corazón de los impíos. Tenemos que proclamar el evangelio de Jesucristo y su salvación, y orar por la conversión de los no regenerados. La oración aquí, si se combina con los esfuerzos cristianos, no sólo es apropiado sino absolutamente necesario. Pero, mientras que sólo Dios puede convertir a los malvados, los hombres tienen el poder de controlar a los malvados. Y el medio de control es un sentido estricto de la ley y el orden, de la justicia. Pero hoy en día el sentimentalismo que desfila como el cristianismo, en lugar de tratar de controlar y convertir el mal, busca en su lugar amarla y subsidiarla. El resultado es una destrucción de la civilización y el daño tanto a los miembros piadosos de la sociedad, así como a los malvados que causan la destrucción. 
... Siempre hemos tenido el mal en el mundo. Siempre vamos a tenerlo. El problema es otro: ¿va a ser controlado? ¿Cumplirán los hombres piadosos con su responsabilidad de "ocupar" en nombre de Cristo y hacer cumplir la ley de Dios en cada área? El mundo o estará bajo la ley de Dios, o bajo su juicio.

Social Unrest

   Recently a very fine man, who should know better, sent me a statement containing his answer to the rising tide of evil: "Let's pray about it." I believe that such statements are blasphemous. We are commanded in Scripture to pray, but prayer can never be a substitute for responsibility. If, for example, we refuse to work, and then we pray to God for food for our family, we are doubly guilty before God, guilty of improvidence and of blasphemy.
   How then shall we deal with the problem of evil? Only God can change the heart of the wicked. We need to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ and His salvation, and to pray for the conversion of the unregenerate. Prayer here, if coupled with Christian efforts, is not only proper but absolutely necessary. But, while only God can convert the wicked, men have the power to control de wicked. And the means of control is a strict sense of law and order, of justice. But today the sentimentalism that parades as Christianity, instead of seeking to control and to convert the evil seeks instead to love it and subsidize it. The result is a destruction of civilization and harm to both the godly members of society as well as to the wicked who cause the destruction.
   ...We have always had evil in the world. We always will have it  the problem lies elsewhere: will it be control? Will godly men meet their responsibility to "occupy" in Christ's name and enforce God's law in every area? The world will either be under God's law, or under His judgment.
