"YO SOY LA PUERTA" (English)

"Uno de nuestros amigos de Calcedonia comentó, no hace mucho tiempo, que Jesús dijo, 'Yo soy la puerta' (Juan 10:9); El no dijo: '¡Yo soy el felpudo!' Demasiados clérigos parecen creer que lo que Jesús realmente dijo fue: Padre, yo soy el felpudo. Ellos asumen además que la verdadera piedad significa hacernos a nosotros mismos felpudos. Como resultado, ellos aconsejan un pacifismo implícito, rendirse, y una subordinación continua a todos los males que se presentan.

"I AM THE DOOR"

   "One of our Chalcedon friends remarked, not too long ago, that Jesus said, "I am the door" (John 10:9); He did not say, "I am the doormat!" All too many churchmen seem to believe that what Jesus actually said was, Father, I am the doormat. They further assume that true piety means making ourselves into doormats. As a result, they counsel an implicit pacifism, surrender, and a continual subservience to every evil that comes along.
   As a result, we see today persecuted pastors, Christian School teachers, and parents facing a double assault, from humanistic statists on the one hand, and compromising churchmen on the other. These churchmen who counsel meek submission to statism and humanism are anything but meek in facing their persecuted brethren! Then they are indeed bold and vocal.
   If Christ is indeed the door, as we believe He is, He is the door to salvation, to freedom, to power over the forces of darkness (including humanism and statism),  and to victory. Doormat Churchianity is not Christianity. John says emphatically, "For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith" (I John 5:4). Victory is a condition of our new creation. To counsel surrender and defeat is to counsel a form of unbelief."

Traición
Juan 13: 12-30

Cristo estaba "¡preocupado!" Había invertido en JUDAS y aunque sabía de antemano que le iba a traicionar, el acto real era difícil de aceptar. Esto no quiere decir que nunca debemos confiar en otro ser humano caído. Es solamente que nuestra confianza debe estar basada en una confianza previa y sin reservas en los propósitos soberanos de nuestro Señor Soberano.

Rechazo
Juan 15: 18-25

Si decimos que somos los seguidores de Jesús no debe ser demasiado sorprendente cuando los que no lo son, encuentran nuestra compañía problemática. Cuando una persona está tratando de plantar un árbol y otra está tratando de arrancar de raíz, la relación no será sin dificultad. Cuanto más defendemos eficazmente a Cristo y Su Palabra en un mundo que está tratando de borrar todo recuerdo de él, seremos considerados más PELIGROSOS. Como otros han dicho, "¡no hay nada más peligroso para una sociedad que se considera a si misma absoluta, que una persona con una capacidad absoluta de juzgar esa sociedad!"

Juicio
Juan 18: 28 - 19: 15

Pilato dijo: "¡Yo no encuentro ningún delito en Él!" ¡y luego lo entregó para ser crucificado! ¡Tanto por la JUSTICIA! El juicio de Jesús fue un ejercicio de manipulación judicial. No hubo Defensa; ¡ni Jurado imparcial y, finalmente, ni siquiera ninguna Culpabilidad! ¡Sólo la cobardía y la manipulación! La anulación del Jurado es una doctrina necesaria del derecho común, el cual reconoce que los jurados tienen la responsabilidad de juzgar no sólo los hechos de un caso, sino también la ley del hombre en sí. Es un producto de los hombres caídos en esa ley, la ley del hombre será igualmente caída. El derecho de un jurado para juzgar sobre la base de la ley inmutable de Dios provee un chequeo contra las leyes de los hombres que no concuerden con él. Aquí vemos el intento de Pilato a participar en lo que podría llamarse una anulación de los jueces en un juicio injusto. Pero Pilato no tenía el coraje de oponerse a lo que él sabía que era la manipulación y Jesús fue entregado para ser crucificado.

Burlas
Mateo 27: 24-31

Aquí vemos a los soldados que se divierten un poco con un "criminal" condenado, aunque tan injustamente. Si ellos hubieran cumplido con su responsabilidad, habrían seguido el juicio y rehusado a seguir una orden injusta. Pero eso probablemente hubiera significado que otros tomarian su lugar y que ellos mismos acompañarian a Jesús para ser crucificado junto con él. Esto habría requerido un mayor valor del que se esperaba de Pilato. No hay gente pequeña y todo el mundo tiene su nivel de responsabilidad. Los soldados tenian mucho miedo de la autoridad de Pilato y asumieron tontamente que no había ninguna más. El carácter sumiso del Objeto de su burla, no indicaba debilidad de Su parte. Indicó una tolerancia propuesta y amor. ¡Una tolerancia con toda la fuerza del poder soberano de Dios detrás de esto!

Crucifixión
Juan 19: 17-24

¡La crucifixión era una muerte lenta y dolorosa! ¡Era un símbolo de uno bajo una MALDICION! Gálatas 3: 13 nos dice que "Cristo nos redimió de la maldición de la ley, hecho por nosotros maldición (porque está escrito: Maldito todo el que cuelga en un madero)." Es importante para nosotros recordar que aunque Cristo fue condenado injustamente, Él no fue crucificado injustamente. Los pecados que pusieron a Cristo en la cruz fueron verdaderos pecados y merecieron castigo eterno. ¡Esos pecados fueron nuestros! ¡El cuerpo de Cristo  fue quebrantado y su sangre derramada en lugar de los nuestros! ¡El murió de una muerte que estaba destinado para nosotros, que si lo hubiéramos intentado en nosotros mismos, hubiera durado por la Eternidad!

Insultos
Mateo 27: 38-44

Debemos recordar que Cristo toleró los insultos que se lanzaron contra él. Murió, pero no murió sin poder. Legiones de Ángeles se pararon listos y en un aviso al instante, los hubieran despachado rápidamente a sus perseguidores. Jesús no TENIA que morir. ¡Murió a propósito! ¡Murió porque Su amor por Su pueblo caído lo obligaba!

Oscuridad
Mateo 27: 45-49

Desde las 12:00 del mediodía a 3:00 de la tarde una gran y oscuridad estigia cubrieron la tierra. La oscuridad es un símbolo de la ira de Dios y el juicio, una ira que se vertió justamente sobre Jesús. Fue en este punto que Jesús entró en el punto más profundo de Su sufrimiento. ¡El punto en que Su padre se volvió contra él y derramó la ira suprema Infernal que estaba destinada para nosotros sobre Su Hijo! Fue abandonado por el Padre y, aunque sólo por un momento, ese momento estaba lleno de la esencia de la Eternidad.

Encomendamiento
Lucas 23: 46-49

Al final de Su sufrimiento, ¡Jesús da su último suspiro y se encomienda EL MISMO al Padre! Por lo general, debe haber otras personas que encomiendan nuestros cuerpos a la tumba, pero aquí era Jesús Mismo quien lo hizo. De nuevo, ¡esto indica un poder que los simples mortales no pueden poseer! Cada aspecto de la muerte de Jesús estaba en su poder.

Muerte
Juan 19: 28-37

¡Jesús estaba Realmente Muerto! ¡No había Vida en él! Cuando el soldado clavó su lanza en su costado la sangre y el agua venidera era una indicación médica de una muerte muy real. No se desmayó o sufrió una experiencia cercana a la muerte. Él estaba realmente muerto y las personas realmente muertas nunca son resucitadas.

Entierro
Juan 19: 38-42

Cuando un Jefe de Estado muere su cuerpo se suele poner en ampliada exposición pública para que los dolientes pueden presentar sus respetos. Este Velatorio de Estado es generalmente reservado para los Reyes, Presidentes y otros Dirigentes del Estado. Sin embargo, no se utilizó para el Gobernante Supremo del cielo y la tierra. Jesús fue enterrado rápidamente, sin fanfarria ni ceremonia. Incluso los más cercanos a Él pensaban que se había terminado. El que había ofrecido tal promesa y la esperanza ya no existía.

Resurrección
Hechos 2: 22-32

Satanás parecía haber ganado la partida. Su Némesis grande había sido asesinado y enterrado. Jesús estaba en la tumba y Su pueblo estaba todavía en sus pecados. Satanás estaba, sin duda, gozoso de la muerte, el castigo de Dios por el pecado, había eliminado al Unico Candidato para Redimir la raza humana. El mundo estaba en el poder de Satanás y la humanidad estaba perdida para siempre. O al menos eso parecía. . . Pero a medida que los primeros rayos del sol de la mañana se rompieron en el tercer día, un hondo temblor que fue sentido por los corredores del tiempo y la eternidad. Ascensión
Hechos 2: 33-36

La batalla había sido ganada y Satanás derrotado. TODA AUTORIDAD Y PODER en el Cielo y la Tierra se le dio a CRISTO como asumió su asiento que le corresponde a la diestra del Padre. Como Rey, El  inmediatamente, a través del poder del Espíritu Santo, comenzó el proceso de extender los beneficios de su muerte a todos aquellos por los cuales Él había muerto que, a pesar de que merecen la muerte eterna, ellos pueden experimentar la vida para siempre. En Filipenses 2, Pablo escribe: "Por lo cual Dios también le exaltó hasta lo sumo, y le confirió el nombre que es sobre todo nombre, para que al nombre de Jesús se doble toda rodilla de los que estan en el cielo, y en la tierra, y debajo de la tierra, y toda lengua confiese que Jesucristo es Señor, para gloria de Dios Padre".

¡El Viernes Santo es BUENO porque la Muerte eterna se convirtió en VIDA eterna!

Scripture & Comments

Betrayal
John 13: 12-30

Christ was "troubled!"  He had invested in JUDAS & even though he knew beforehand that he would betray Him, the actual act was hard to accept.  This is not to say we should never entrust ourselves to another fallen human.  It is just that that our trust must be grounded in a prior & unqualified trust in the sovereign purposes of our Sovereign Lord.

Rejection
John 15: 18-25

If we claim to be Jesus’ followers we should not be too surprised when those who are not, find our company troublesome.  When one person is trying to plant a tree and another is trying to uproot it the relationship will not be without difficulty.  The more effectively we stand for Christ and His Word in a world that is trying to erase all memory of Him, the more DANGEROUS we will be considered.  As others have said, “there is nothing more dangerous to a society that considers itself absolute than an individual with an absolute capable of judging that society!”

Trial
John 18: 28 - 19: 15

Pilate said, "I find no fault in Him!" and then turned Him over to be crucified!  So much for JUSTICE!   Jesus’ trial was an exercise in judicial manipulation.  There was no Defense; No impartial Jury & finally, not even any Guilt !  Only cowardice & manipulation!  Jury nullification is a necessary common law doctrine which acknowledges that juries have a responsibility to judge not only the facts of a case but also man’s law itself.  In that law is a product of fallen men, man’s law will be equally fallen.  A jury’s right to judge it on the basis of God’s unchanging law provides a check against those laws of men which do not comport with it.  Here we see Pilate attempt to engage in what might be called a judges nullification of an unjust trial.  But Pilate didn’t have the courage to stand against what he knew to be manipulation and Jesus was turned over to be crucified.

Mocking
Matthew 27: 24-31

Here we see the enlisted men having a little fun with a convicted “criminal,” even if unjustly so. If they had fulfilled their responsibility they would have followed the trial & refused to follow an unjust order.  But that would have probably meant others taking their place and they themselves accompanying Jesus to be crucified right along with Him.  This would have required greater courage than was expected of Pilate.  There are no little people and everyone has their level of responsibility.  The soldier’s were very afraid of Pilate’s authority and foolishly assumed that there was none higher.  The submissive character of the Object of their mocking did not indicate weakness on His part.  It indicated a purposed tolerance and love.  A tolerance with the full force of God’s sovereign power behind it!

Crucifixion
John 19: 17-24

Crucifixion was a slow & agonizing death!  It was a symbol of one under a CURSE!  Galatians 3: 13 tells us that "Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, 'Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree).’”  It is important for us to remember that although Christ was unjustly convicted, He was not unjustly crucified.  The sins that put Christ on the Cross were real sins and merited eternal punishment.  Those sins were ours! Christ’s body was broken and His blood poured out in place of our own!  He died a death meant for us, which if we had attempted it in ourselves would have lasted for Eternity!

Insults
Matthew 27: 38-44

We must remember that Christ tolerated the insults that were hurled against Him. He died, but He did not die powerless.  Legions of Angels stood at the ready and upon an instants notice would quickly have dispatched His persecutors.  Jesus did not HAVE to die.  He died on purpose!  He died because His Love for His fallen people required it!
Darkness
Matthew 27: 45-49

From  12:00 noon  to 3:00 in the afternoon a great and stygian darkness covered the land.  Darkness is a symbol of God’s wrath & judgment, a wrath that was justly poured out upon Jesus.  It was at this point that Jesus entered the deepest point of His suffering.  The point when His Father turned against Him and poured out the supreme Hellish wrath that was meant for us upon His Son!  He was forsaken of the Father &, even if but for a moment, that moment was filled with the essence of Eternity.

Commital
Luke 23: 46-49

At the end of His suffering Jesus breathes His last & commits HIMSELF to the Father! Usually it must be other people who commit our bodies to the grave but here it was Jesus Himself who did so.  This again indicates a power which mere mortals can never possess!  Every aspect of Jesus’ death was in His power.

Death
John 19: 28-37

Jesus was Really Dead!  There was no Life in Him!   When the soldier thrust his spear into His side the forthcoming blood and water was a medical indication of a very real death. He did not swoon or suffer a near-death experience.  He was really dead & really dead people are never resuscitated.

Buried
John 19: 38-42

When a Head of State dies their bodies are usually put on extended public display so that mourners may pay their respects.  This Lying in State is generally reserved for Kings, Presidents and other Leaders of State.  However, it was not utilized for the Supreme Ruler of heaven and earth.  Jesus was quickly buried, without fanfare or ceremony.  Even those closest to Him thought it was over. He who had offered such promise and hope was no more.

Resurrection
Acts 2: 22-32

Satan seemed to have won the day. His great Nemesis had been killed and buried.  Jesus was in the grave & His people were still in their sins.  Satan was undoubtedly rejoicing that Death, God’s own punishment for sin, had knocked out the Only Candidate for Redeemer of the human race.  The world was in Satan’s power and mankind was lost forever.  Or so it seemed.   .   .  But as the early rays of the morning sun broke upon the third day a deep tremor was felt down the corridors of time and eternity.  The rock was moved from its place and revealed a tomb without a body.  Jesus was gone!  Satan knew that the game was up.  Jesus had died bearing the sins of the world.  Those sins merited eternal death and should have kept Him in the grave forever.  But in fact, God’s righteous love had justly paid the consequences of His wrath and Jesus exploded from the grave.  Death had not been able to hold Him!  He was physically, spiritually, and eternally alive!

Ascension
Acts 2: 33-36

The battle had been won and Satan defeated.  ALL AUTHORITY & POWER in Heaven & on Earth was given to CHRIST as he assumed His rightful seat at the Right Hand of the Father.  As King, He immediately, through the power of the Holy Spirit, began the process of extending the benefits of His death to all those for whom He had died that, although deserving eternal death, they might experience life forever more.  In Philippians 2 Paul writes,  "Therefore God also has highly exalted Him & given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, & of those on earth, & of those under the earth, And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father."

Good Friday is GOOD because eternal Death was turned to eternal LIFE!

   "Durante este mes pasado, en el curso de mis viajes, pasé varias horas visitando a un destacado lider conservador, un hombre que es una fuerza principal en una de nuestras organizaciones anticomunistas más notables. Hope

   "During this past month, in the course of my travels, I spent several hours visiting with an outstanding conservative leader, a man who is a major force in one of our most notable anti-communist organizations. In the first few minutes, he raised the question: 'Do you see any hope?' Many ask this same question. I am reminded of the question asked of Adoniram Judson (1788-1850), pioneer American Baptist missionary in Burma. Hostile forces soon succeeded in destroying Judson's mission, his converts, printing press, and his possessions. Judson himself was thrown into a filthy Burmese prison, and, with arrogant humor, asked by a captor, 'How are your prospects now?' 'As bright as the promises of God,' responded Judson, who lived to see those promises fulfilled in the success of his mission. Our prospects are also as bright, if our confidence is in  the same omnipotent God.
   The revolution in our day rests on certain anti-Christian premises: First, it is held that anything goes, because there is no God. No God means no law, and no law means that nothing is a crime, and hence all acts are equally valid. Second, by 'outlawing' God and declaring Him to be non-existent, the revolutionaries outlaw the idea of good and evil. They are supposedly beyond good and evil. If good is mythical, then evil is also, and man cannot be evil! Therefore, whatever the world -planners do cannot be evil, because evil does not exist: it is simply either a successful scientific experiment, or it is a failure. Third, because God is abolished as a myth, the approach to man's problems must be scientific, that is, experimental, and man is thus the prime laboratory test animal. In school, your children are to be objects of experimentation, even as you are also by means of every communication media. There is no evil in such experimentation, since there is no God, but only success or failure. Fourth, every experiment, to be valid, requires total control of all factors. Hence, the scientific society must be totalitarian to the full measure, or it will not work.
   The various phases of this vast attempt to turn the world from God's creation to the scientific planner's re-creation can be documented in detail. It has been done by the volume. The answer, however, is not in facts and knowledge but in a restoration of Christian faith.
   Because God is God, and because He will not allow Himself to be dethroned, the scientific planners are doomed. This judgement is a certainty because God cannot allow sin to go unpunished. All sin is either atoned for, or punished. The question is whether we will be among those judged, or among those, the saved remnant, who shall undertake even now the task of reconstruction."

¿DEBERÍAMOS LIMPIAR LA TELEVISIÓN? (English)

   "Una de las cosas que la mayoría de nosotros estamos de acuerdo es, en que la televisión está llena de programación que está estéticamente y moralmente en un nivel muy bajo. Los objetivos usuales de los críticos de la televisión es el fuerte énfasis en el sexo y la violencia. (Uno puede añadir a eso la vulgaridad creciente de la televisión, de manera que es doloroso mirar aunque sea momentáneamente, una visión del hombre tan barata y degradante.)
   ¿Pero están los críticos en lo correcto? ¿Es 'la limpieza' lo que necesita la televisión? ¿Tendremos mejor televisión si eliminamos el sexo ofensivo y la violencia, las palabrotas, y la vulgaridad, o no será de hecho peor?

   Nuestro Señor emitió una advertencia contra una limpieza falsa y vacía. Expulsar a un demonio sin rehacer al hombre significa, ponerlo abierto de par en par, a siete demonios peores (Mateo 12:43-45). Dicha reforma falsa conduce a convertir a los hombres en 'sepulcros blanqueados' que son el epítome de la inmundicia (Mateo 23:27).

   Si todo lo que hacemos es 'limpiar' la televisión y las películas, ¿no crearemos sepulcros blanqueados? Esto es de hecho lo que resultará. Daremos una fachada al humanismo para hacerlo parecer a la moral cristiana. La mayoría de los programas de televisión y las producciones cinematográficas también, nos dan el 'evangelio' del humanismo. ¿Queremos poner una cara cristiana en eso? El humanismo con una fachada de la moral cristiana, será el engaño más grande y el mal imaginable. Aparentemente ¿esto es lo que los eclesiásticos desean? Lo que necesitamos en su lugar es la programación que revela una visión cristiana del mundo y de la vida. Esto significa un trabajo de afirmación y reconstrucción, una entrada en las artes, no una retirada de ellas. La imagen del cristiano como crítico es una falsa. El cristiano verdadero es un constructor y un creador de nuevo en Cristo nuestro Señor; el llamamiento del cristiano es de traer cada área de la vida y el pensamiento bajo el reinado de Cristo el Rey.

   ¿Deberíamos 'limpiar' la televisión? Más bien, ¿no deberíamos hacerla nuestra? ¿No deberíamos entrar en ella y hacerla un dominio cristiano?"

SHOULD WE CLEAN UP TELEVISION?

   "One of the things most of us can agree is that television is full of programming which is aesthetically and morally on a very low level. The usual targets of the critics of television is the strong emphasis on sex and violence. (One can add to that the increasing vulgarity of television, so that it is painful to watch even momentarily so cheap and degrading a view of man.)

    But are the critics right? Is 'cleaning up' what television needs? Will we have better television if we eliminate the offensive sex and violence, the profanity, and the vulgarity, or will it not in fact be worse?

   Our Lord issued a warning against a false and empty cleansing. To expel one demon without remaking the man means to lay him wide open to seven worse demons (Matt. 12:43-45). Such a false reform leads to turning men into 'whited sepulchers' which are the epitome of uncleanness (Matt. 23:27).

   If all we do is to 'clean up' television and the films, will we not be creating whited sepulchers? This is in fact what will result. We will give a facade to humanism to make it resemble Christian morality. Most television programming and film productions as well give us the 'gospel' of humanism. Do we want to put a Christian face on that? Humanism with a facade of Christian morality will be the greatest deception and evil imaginable. Apparently this is what such churchmen want? What we need instead is programming which reveals a Christian world and life view. This means a work of affirmation and reconstruction, an entrance into the arts, not a retreat from them. The image of the Christian as critic is a false one. The true Christian is a builder and a re-creator in Christ our Lord; the Christian's calling is to bring every area of life and thought under the reign of Christ the King.

   Should we 'clean up' television? Rather, should we not make it our own? Should we not move into it and make it a Christian domain?"

8. El hombre cristiano es el único hombre verdaderamente libre en todo el mundo, y está llamado a ejercer dominio sobre toda la tierra.
9. El humanismo es el camino de la muerte y es la esencia del pecado original, o el hombre tratando de ser su propio dios.
10. Todos los hombres, las cosas, y las instituciones deben servir a Dios, o ser juzgados por Él."

A CHRISTIAN MANIFESTO

"1. Sovereignty is an attribute of God alone, not of man nor the state. God alone is Lord or Sovereign over all things; over state, school, family, vocations, society and all things else.
2. The Bible is given as the common law of men and nations and was for most of U.S. history the common law, as Justice Story declared.
3. Salvation is not by politics, education, the church, or any agency or person other than Jesus Christ our Lord.
4. The myth of Machiavelli, that, by state control at the top, bad men can make a good society is at the root of our cultural crisis and growing collapse. A good omelet cannot be made with bad eggs. Truly redeemed men are necessary for a good society.
5. Civil rulers who rule without the Lord and His law word are, as Augustine said, no different than a mafia, only more powerful.
6. The state is not the government, but one form of government, but one form of government among many, others being the self-government of the Christian man, the family, the school, the church, vocations and society. The state is civil government, a ministry of justice.
7. For the state to equate itself with government is tyranny and evil.
8. The Christian man is the only truly free man in all the world, and he is called to exercise dominion over all the earth.
9. Humanism is the way of death and is the essence of original sin, or man trying to be his own god.
10. All men, things, and institutions must serve God, or be judged by Him."
